  I appreciate your giving me plenty of notice.  I think it will be quite an education experience for you to make the trip to China and I would be a strong advocate for you to go.  That is something I would like to do someday.  I’ve always wanted to go on a mission trip.  So, go with my blessing.  We will plan ahead to make sure we have coverage while you’re away.  Thanks for letting me know and I’ll see you next MondayJ

  About that question, I wanted to request taking some time off in June for a mission trip to China.  I meant to discuss this during the interview process, but admittedly, I was a bit nervous and it slipped my mind.  The dates for this mission trip were set very recently as well.

  
  

   

  
  

  My church is planning a mission trip to China in late June.  The dates are June 24th – July 4^th.  June 24^th is a Friday and July 4^th is on a Monday.  I should only miss a total of 6 working days.  If at all possible, I would like to be a part of the medical team that goes on this mission trip.

  
  

   

  
  

  I apologize for not letting you know sooner.  I do realize I just started working and it feels premature to be requesting time off already, but I hope something can be worked out.
